Our goal is healthy well socialized Kittens
We are a family of animal lovers who fell deeply in love with the Sphynx breed the moment we met one. After that we decided we wanted to breed healthy loving kittens to join other animal loving homes.
Our kittens are raised underfoot which means they are a part of the family. All of our cats have free rein of our home located in Ontario, Canada. Our parents are always on site for you to view and meet. As much as you want to meet them we need to meet you. After all your taking home one of our babies and becoming an extended family member. One of the biggest threats to this breed besides BYB is HCM please take a moment to read about it in our blog section. We HCM scan our breeding pairs YEARLY. Each scan is available for you to see upon request. BAMBINOS - why we chose to stop breeding them While we love our little Selina we found that during her short birthing time with us she had kittens born with clubbed feet as well as other bone related ailments. We lost 2 bambino kittens in our final litter which caused us to really dive into the breed specific issues of the munchkin cat. Selina had DNA testing and was cleared of any genetic issues... While Bambino breeders will say this was due to bad breeding ( it wasn't ) our vet agrees that Bambinos should not be bred. We discussed in length what pros would be to continue the breeding of Bambinos and came to the conclusion that there are no pros just cons. While we appreciate the love of the look we have to ask ourselves what good comes out of deliberately breeding a cat with a mutation that can cause a plethora of health problems. At the end of the day if I am promising you that we are trying to breed healthy kittens, then breeding Bambinos went against that promise... for this we are terribly sorry. We offered both of our Bambino kitten owners a lifetime guarantee on their kittens, spayed our Bambino and haven't looked back. CREDIT : CAT TIME WEBSITE Although Munchkin cats (used to make Bambinos) , when taken care of, can live about 12 to 15 years on average, there are some health problems that can develop due to their short legs. Lordosis is a condition that causes the spine to dip down and put pressure on the heart, lungs, and trachea, and it can be fatal as the organs begin to grow. Munchkin cats are also susceptible to pectus excavatum, or a concave chest. This causes the breastbone to sink in. Breeders are quick to point out that these conditions can also occur in normal-sized cats, but vets have found a correlation between the genetic mutation and these health problems. We welcome visitors to our cattery 10-14 days after kittens have had their first set of vaccinations. By this time most people have already chosen which kitten they will be taking home. However we may have available kittens to choose from at various times of the year. Our Vet recommends no visitation prior to their first vaccination for their protection. In order for us to provide you with the healthiest pet we follow this guideline. Kittens go home at 13-16 weeks 2 weeks post spay and 1 week post neuter. Kittens will not be released before that day but your welcome to Skype with them as often as you wish.
